Dialogue Session: Realities and Aspirations of Young Cultural Actors in Mukalla

Hadhramout Culture Foundation holds a meeting with cultural actors

This morning, Wednesday, 2 November 2022, Hadhramout Culture Foundation organized a meeting with cultural actors to discuss the current state of culture in Al-Mukalla, their aspirations, visions, and the challenges they face. The session began with a speech by Executive Director Shorouq Al-Ramadi, presenting the Foundation’s vision, mission, objectives, creative departments, and ongoing projects.

The meeting revolved around three main topics:

- The current cultural situation in Al-Mukalla.

- Challenges faced by cultural actors.

- Youth aspirations for improving and enriching the cultural landscape.

The discussions included interactive group sessions, reflecting the participants’ strong cultural sensibilities and their commitment to enhancing and developing the city’s cultural scene.

Notably, the attendees represented a diverse group—from writers, painters, filmmakers, and photographers, to cultural activists working individually or within organizations and institutions. This meeting marks the first in a series of engagements the Foundation will hold to involve cultural actors and achieve a meaningful cultural renaissance.
