The Chairman of the Founders Council of Hadhramout Culture Foundation, Eng. Abdullah Baqshan, presented the first Yemeni Mushaf to Dr. Rashad Al-Alimi, President of the Yemeni Presidential Council, in the presence of Mr. Muammar Al-Eryani, Yemeni Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, on Tuesday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
This unique museum-quality Mushaf is the first of its kind in Yemen written entirely in the Naskh script, with contributions from forty calligraphers from across various provinces, each writing fifteen pages of the Qur’an as part of this special Qur’anic gathering organized under the project. The initiative was implemented by the Hadhramout Culture Foundation in collaboration with the Ministries of Information, Culture and Tourism, and Endowments and Guidance.
The President praised the Foundation’s dedication to serving culture, knowledge, religious heritage, literature, and nurturing creative talents, highlighting the importance of such efforts in preserving Yemen’s rich heritage in coordination with relevant government bodies.
The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, and Dr. Ahmed bin Mubarak, Minister of Foreign Affairs.
It is noteworthy that this project serves as a gateway to a larger initiative: the creation of the official Yemeni Mushaf, which is planned for printing. A review and verification committee has been formed to ensure the accuracy of the script and diacritics.
